If you ask for a wake-up call at Giraffe Manor, you might get a giraffe instead! Back in 1974 five of the rare Rothschild’s giraffes were brought to the 140-acre African resort. Today eight roam the grounds.
Rick Anderson, who runs the manor, says he’s happy to stick his neck out for the giraffes, especially since only about 300 survive in Kenya. “They are magnificent, gentle giants,” he says. Guests would agree.
The animals wow visitors by poking their heads through bedroom windows or begging for treats at the table. Says Anderson: “They’ll just look at you until you give them food.” Talk about a tall order!
