Do you love trains? Then ask your parents to take you to the nearest National Train Day event, Saturday, May 10! More than 300 events will take place in all 50 states for the seventh annual celebration.
Real trains, toy trains, new trains, and old trains will be on display. At some locations, you’ll also have an opportunity to be an engineer in a train simulator and you can learn how to stay safe around train tracks.
Visit the official National Train Day 2014 web site to find an event near you and learn more about activities for you and your family!

- The first public transit in Los Angeles consisted of horse-drawn railway cars.
- The fastest train in the U.S. goes 150 mph (241 kph), as fast as the diving speed of a Golden Eagle. Flying horiztonally, the eagle wouldn't be able to keep up, as its top speed is 80 mph (128 kph).
