Open to legal residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec) ages 6 to 14 on October 31, 2011. Employees of Sponsor National Geographic Society, The Adventure Company, The Adventure Center, and related parties are ineligible. Online Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on October 31, 2011, and mail-in Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2011. Mail-in Entries must be received by November 7, 2011. Limit one entry per person per Category. Entry must comply with Entry Requirements described in Official Rules. Four (4) First Prizes (one per category) (ARV: $293 USD each): 16-megapixel digital camera; an 8GB memory card; a copy of National Geographic Kids Almanac 2012, Weird But True 3, Everything Big Cats, and Awesome Animals; and automatic entry into the Worldwide National Geographic Society International Photography Contest for Kids (Official Rules at kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/contests/photo-contest-rules/). Four (4) Second Prizes (one per category) (ARV: $190 USD each): a 14-megapixel digital camera, an 8GB memory card, and a copy of National Geographic Kids Almanac 2012 and Weird But True 3. One Grand Prize (ARV: $12,032 USD): a trip to Costa Rica for a family of four between January 1, 2012, and January 1, 2013, subject to availability.
