Switzerland

This weekend I went to Switzerland to visit my grandparents and go to my mum's cousin's wedding.

Photo: Lake and towerIt was really fun over there. The food was great, the wedding was great, and it was a shame we had to leave so soon.

My grandparents have a wooden house in a village which was built by my great, great grandfather named Alois in 1932. It is a typical central Swiss house, made of wood.

There is a picture of a small stained glass window which says "the teacher Alois Rothlin built this house."
Photo: Stained glass windowIt is in a small village called Kerns, which is in the center of Switzerland, just about 100 miles from Basel and 20 miles from Luzern.

Photo: Cafe in SwitzerlandHere I am in a café in Luzern. They provide blankets rather than outside heaters - more eco-friendly!

They speak Swiss-German there. The wedding was in Basel and I took some wedding pictures for my uncle.

Look at all the garden gnomes in Kerns.
