My Birthday!

I am very lucky because the day of my birthday was on multicultural day at school, multicultural day at school is when all of us dress up from different countries and present them to the school(it will be in my next post for more details). So because of multicultural day we didn't have lessons, so there was no lessons on my birthday.  But the luckier part was that my mom told me that I am allowed to pick five friends and take them down to the Dead Sea for the day!!! I got so excited so I invited five of my friends to come from school with me to the Dead Sea to celebrate my birthday!

Photo: The Dead Sea

Photo: Sign at Dead SeaThe Dead Sea is a place 40 minutes away from were I live(Amman the capital of Jordan) it is the lowest point on earth and is so much fun.

There are swimming pools and beaches, and special mud that is very good for the skin. Lots of people go there for medical reasons as well as just to enjoy the weather, pools and beaches.

You may be thinking why it is called the Dead Sea; well it is called the Dead Sea because it is so salty that there are no animals living in it. A very cool fact about it is that if you swim in the Sea, you FLOAT  because of all the salt in it!
Me and my friends went down with my family and we had a blast.
We first went to the room in the  Hotel and changed into our swimming suits and then we hit the pool.

Earth Hour

Photo: Ayat's Mom lighting a candleAs you may have heard March 28 was Earth Hour. Many people around the world were voting to reduce global warming; and to vote you had to turn your lights off at 8:30 PM till 9:30 PM. It happened last Saturday. This was the first year I did it because it was the first time Jordan did it!!

I told all my friends to do it and told them they have to vote to save our only Earth. And many of them did. On the night of voting I was pretty excited to light up all the candles and get ready. So my family and I began lighting the candles and getting ready. It was fun. After getting ready we watched the clock and turned the lights off for one whole hour.

My Braces

A few weeks ago something exciting happened to me. I put on braces! It all started when I went for a check up at the dentist. He told me that he is going to measure my mouth. I was a bit confused why would he want to measure my mouth? So I asked him why? And he said that I need braces!!!!! And, that when he makes sure of the results I would  have to come back and put them on. I was excited and nervous at the same time--my friend Yasmine has braces and I wanted to show my friends mine!

After a couple of days I went to the dentist with my father. I was ready to put on braces. I went into the clinic lay on the chair and opened my mouth. I needed braces on my upper teeth and lower teeth. Each one needed one hour, but I am lucky because I was going to put on the top first, get used to it, then come back and do the bottom part. I got a little bored waiting and waiting just for the top part to finish, and finally it was over. I went home in pain. I couldn't really eat, but I was OK.

Readers Book Shop

Guess what! My mother owns an amazing book shop called Readers; I am going to tell you all about it.

My eldest brother came up with the name Readers. It opened around one year ago in a shopping center. Readers is big! There are different sections like adult, teenagers, and kids. Photo: Ayat and friends at the Readers bookstore

My favorite is the kids' section. It is always decorated in cool ways with crazy colors and great designs. In the bookshop, there are many books in English and in Arabic.

All the books come in different shapes and sizes some big, small, medium or tiny. I love going there to look at the amazing and fun books!

There were many goodies and presents and singing. Christmas carolers came and sang lovely Christmas songs. It was tons of  fun and entertaining, and after that amazing party I went home to bed and woke up and it was Christmas!

Family

I am very lucky because I have a lot of family! Originally, Jordan was a tribal country. A tribe is a group of people who are related and lived together in a certain area, but now-a-days we all don't live together of course.

Did you know that people can still know where you are originally from and what family you come from by your last name? That is why it is called a FAMILY NAME! So when I tell someone my family name they will know that we are originally from the southern part of Jordan!

Because Jordan was and still is a tribal country, there are still big families just like mine!
Something crazy about my family is that I have 16 first cousins from my mother's and my father's sides of the family. The eldest is 23 years old and the youngest is three months old today!!

Photo: Lots of cousins
All my cousins have the funniest and coolest nicknames,  like Buggy, Louie, and Zenzoony. Other nicknames are Fulli,  Zemi, Simsim, KitKat, Lulu, Cookie, Oushie, Kanny, and Zooey. And my nickname is Tina!

My Dog Fudge

For the longest time my brother and I have wished for a dog and four years ago our wish came true! My aunt has lots of dogs and once her dog Lucy had puppies so we took a puppy named Fudge to take care of.

Photo: Ayat and her dog Fudge
Fudge is light brown and has the cutest face. Her father was a terrier and her mother was a dachshund, but she is not that long at all she looks more like a terrier.
