Camping Trip

You won't believe it! I went camping! Every year grade five goes on a camping trip to the Dana nature reserve. Dana is a village in the south of Jordan that is four hours away from were I live in Amman (the capital of Jordan). On Thursday I woke up super excited but at the same time nervous (since me and my class were going to be camping there in tents). I went to school ready with my sleeping bag, clothes, and packed lunch and went onto the bus to start my journey.

The bus ride was quite long but it was OK because of the rest stop on the way. When we finally arrived at Dana (after a four drive) the bus wasn't supposed to go further--we had to walk for about half and hour down to the tents and where we would be staying.

It  was so much fun walking down, it was a very steep and long hill that was so high. Halfway down we started to see tiny little tents but trust me when we got there and saw  the tents they were amazing!

I was sharing a tent with my two best friends Yasmine and Suraya (get to know them in other blogs) we put our things in the tent

and went to the main tent (where we were always to meet).

We first started with some science, English, and compass activities they were lots of fun then we went for a lovely sunset walk with a guide that showed us around and told us all about the different kinds of plants.

At the end of the walk it began to get a bit colder so we grabbed our torches and headed back looking forward to a Dana feast.

Supper was amazing, there was a variety of different kinds of food it was all delicious. Then we all sat by the fire and roasted yummy marshmallows and became much warmer. Then came the part that I was looking forward to the most: the talent show. I was super excited. Yasmine and I were going to perform a dance and were hoping to win. All my friends did many different performances but the teachers chose two and they were...........................................................US!!!!!!--and the boys. We were so happy and we went to bed with huge smiles on our faces!!!!!!!!!

We woke up the next day all happy and getting ready for a morning hike with the same guide. We were hoping to see gazelles. We set off on an hour and a half hike it was loads of fun but sadly we didn't see any gazelles but we saw eagles soaring up in the sky. After the hike we ate breakfast and went on the bus to Dana village. Dana village is of course the main village of Dana, it was very pretty and we saw lots of different kinds of rocks and old houses.

This rock looks like a frog!

We sat on the edge if the mountain and admired the beauty of our country.

The bus ride back was even nicer, we sang and played and at the rest stop bought different things including ice cream. It was a fantastic trip that I would definitely do again.
