St. Margaret's Day

Today at school we celebrated St. Margaret's Day, and boy was it a hectic one.

St. Margaret of Hungary is the patron saint of the Lower Junior School - which means from Grade 0 (yes there is such a thing in South Africa, and we call it Grade Nought) to Grade 3, which is known as Form I.  It's a school tradition, as is the celebration of St. Margaret's Day, in which the whole junior school participates.
During the morning assembly, the Grade 2s did a little play for us about Margaret's life, and they do this play every year so there was nothing really new, but each time it gets cuter and cuter!

At 10:00 am  Sports Day officially began. We were all lined up in our houses - another word for school teams - Scott, Lawrence and Earle. Scott's color is blue, Lawrence is red and Earle is yellow. And I'm in Scott the winning house!). Then we went down to the field singing, "We've got the spirit yes we do, we've got the spirit how 'bout you?" Then we went on our stands and put our banners up. We had a little bit of a cheering session, the louder the better!!!

Our first race was the stepping-stones where we get 7 kickboards and there always has to be at least one foot on it. Thus we came second in that race. The next one was quite similar but we had long planks and only 2 of them! But aha, this time we came first. The last race was the balancing a cup on a log and we had 8 ropes, which we had to balance the cup filled with water and we had to get it to the other line. It was super hard, but we came first as our cup fell half a second after Lawrence!

My sister, who is also in Scott, was also in a few races, like the water relay race.  And in true Scott fashion, she put on warpaint, just like me!!!

We were also so lucky with the weather.  It was so bright and sunny, it didn't feel like winter at all!!!

Also we had a lot of spirit and here are photos and videos of the event!
