Rowan Post

At the biathlon race yesterday I met Rowan Post, who is 12 years old and is training to be a biathlete. Rowan came to the Olympic Biathlon event with his dad and uncle. Rowan recently won first place in a British Columbia youth biathlon event.  I asked him a few questions.

Jack: What do you like about the sport?

Rowan: I really like the sport because it is fun.

Jack: How many hours a week do you practice and compete?

Rowan: I spend 4-5 hours a week shooting, and 6-7 hours a week skiing. [Rowan's dad says that as he gets older and goes to more competitions, he will need to practice more.] Today, I compete for the Methow Valley, Washington team.

Jack: How did you get interested in the sport?

Rowan:  I saw biathlon on TV when I was 6 and I liked that you get to shoot things!

Jack: Do you play other sports?

Rowan: Yes, I like to cross-country ski and play soccer and hockey.
