Inviting the World to Vancouver!

Since Vancouver was awarded the 2010 Winter Olympics, our city has been excitedly waiting and preparing for this amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience.  Three years ago, Vancouver put a gigantic digital clock in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery to count down the days, minutes, and seconds until the big day.

We are so excited to welcome the world to Vancouver!  Olympic spirit is everywhere!  Olympic banners have been hung on street lamps, stores have decorated their windows, and flags from around the world have been painted on sidewalks -- just to name a few of the many things to boost Olympic excitement.  Homeowners have been asked to keep their Christmas lights up to make the city look more festive and bright.  Also, many cars have been decorated with Canadian flags.

The excitement has not only been felt in Vancouver but across our country too, as the Olympic torch has made its way across Canada and to Vancouver.  During the week I got to see the torch go through my neighbourhood (watch the video I took). It was so cool to see the torchbearers so proud and happy!  I am proud and happy too - it's so great that my hometown gets to host the world and bring countries together!
