Sydney Festival 2010

Guess what! I went to the opening of the Sydney Festival. It was held in  the Domain park and Hyde Park, which are the biggest parks in the city. There were 250,000 people attending the concert. Isn't that a lot!? At the concert there was a traditional Aboriginal ceremony.

They came through the crowd with a burning piece of bark as the bonding and representation of the Aboriginals the people of the land of Australia. As the Aboriginal people came past with the burning bit of bark a thick mist like smoke formed around the area where they were just standing. The ceremony continued on the stage and was projected onto the screens.

Soul singer Al Green performed at the concert! Al Green is African American and also a reverend ( a Christian priest). This was the first time he ever performed in Australia.

Photo: Crowd and colorful stageWhen he was there he threw roses into the crowd. I was too far back to catch one, but I got excited just the same. He sang some of his most well known songs and some that weren't so well known. Because I was too small to see properly I sat on my uncle Sasha's shoulders.

There was a projection on the nearest building of someones hand making special shapes too look like a bunny and many other things. After we saw the concert I went home with my dad's cousin, who is my mum's best friend since mum and dad had to go to another party.
