Melbourne Interview

I interviewed some people in my neighborhood: A guy who collects cool things; a man who raises canaries and carries around with him; and a man who looks after Fitzroy Adventure Playground which has giants swings, ducks, rabbits, and lots of stuff. Check out the video...

Christmas Trip to Melbourne

Photo: Ava and Christmas tree

I went to Melbourne to celebrate Christmas. All my family members (from my Dad's side of the family) live there. It takes about ten hours to get there. It can be a very long and boring drive. But I can always find a way to pass the time.

Food--mmm!

Melbourne is a great place for food. It has millions of great places to eat, but it really narrows down to one person. My mum. She is the best cook.

If you want you can go out and get, good pizza, Thai food, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, African, French food, alright. You get the picture.

We have lots of good food because we have lots of people living here from lots of different countries. Recently I ate with our family friends from Bangladesh. I ate lots of curry it was very yum!

Busking

I have been out busking! Can you believe it? I have been playing Christmas carols  on my clarinet to bring Christmas cheer and spirit. I go busking in an outdoor mall where everyone is busy doing their Christmas shopping. I can play Silent night,Oh Christmas Tree, Joy to the World, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Good King Wenceslas.

I Can't Wait Till Christmas!

Hi! Christmas is so soon and I cant wait!  I still have to get my Kris Kringle for my Uncle Sasha. (A Kris Kringle is when you get a present and you don't let the person know who it was that gave them the present. It is also called secret Santa. My family does this instead of buying presents for everyone). I am going to Melbourne to spend Christmas with my dad's side of the family.

It is summer and we are wearing singlets, because it gets so hot and I have been going swimming and snorkeling almost every day.

School

My school is awesome! It¹s 10 +10+100 years old. (Figure that one out. I can't do it.) We have normal classes, but we have special classes as well for Art, Music, Sport, and Italian. We also have library session and Mac Lab session on the computers.

My favourite classes are Art and Music. Music because it's awesome and my dad
teaches it (but not my class). Art because it's awesome awesome. Recently in Art we have been making soft toys. I have been making a little ninja hampster and a man with a pumpkin for a head.

Every year the school does a concert. This year it was all about hair--the story of the crazy things that happen in this person¹s crazy hair. My class was the carnival that was happening in the hair and I was the clown in the hair.

Festivals, Art & Cool Stuff

Recently there have been a lot of festivals in Melbourne, like the one near my house I went to today called The Spanish Festival. The Spanish Festival has lots of food stalls and music in the street  - I got some tacos. This weekend there was also the Big West Fest in a suburb of Melbourne called Footscray. My dad did a gig there with one of his bands. There was lots of art - like this big I-Stop motion (animation) of a massive pinball game where the people were the balls.

Houseboating on the Hawksberry River

Hi again! Last week I went on a house boat.  It was a trip on the Hawksberry River, which is only 45 minutes drive from Sydney. It was so cool. When I got off I felt like the ground was still rocking like when I was on the boat.  I really enjoyed it.

I live near the beach. It is so fun going to the beach all the time. I can snorkel and love going snorkeling. I have touched a blue groper! A blue groper is a huge Australian fish that can grow up to a meter long. In Sydney, you can also go surfing, swimming, diving, etc. Sydney is in the state of N.S.W (New South Wales) on the East Coast.

There are lots of parks, wildlife reserves, wildlife learning places, saving the environment education places, and lots, lots more. I have learned a lot of things by going to many of these places. There are also some amazing animals here. There are animals you may have heard of because they represent Australia. Like the kangaroo, the wombat, and the koala.
