Well Groomed

Kellan has a new ritual. He closes the door of his bathroom to "get ready" for school or an outing. If I open up the door to check on him, he tells me he needs more time and promptly closes the door.

When I crack open the door to see what he's up to, he's usually brushing his teeth, then his hair. Afterward he rubs lotion on his cheeks. I thought kids didn't primp in front of a mirror until middle school.

I don't know whether to be amused or mortified that my four-year-old son has a grooming routine. I know he's only imitating what we do each morning. Still, I'm hoping it's just a phase. I'm hanging on to these preschool years as tightly as I can manage!
